CP-Symbols Mechanical

The CP-Symbols Mechanical series is a set of libraries of symbols and objects for GstarCAD users that support the creation of mechanical designs. CP-Symbols Mechanical consists of 5 libraries: Standards, Shapes, Designations, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Diagrams and Block Diagrams. Each of these libraries can be purchased separately, as a series or in the CP-Symbols Suite.

CP-Symbols Mechanical – Library Overview

The CP-Symbols Mechanical suite provides comprehensive symbol libraries based on national and international standards. These libraries are used to create precise and standards-compliant technical drawings in mechanical engineering.

Normalia Library

Contains essential standard components from national and international norms, including bolts, nuts, keys, bearings, and more.

Categories of symbols include:

  • ISO: bolts, washers, nuts, counterbores for bolts and screws, clearance holes, threaded holes, screws, rivets, pins, prismatic keys, wedges, bearings, dowels, cotter pins
  • ANSI: bolts, washers, nuts
  • ASME: bolts, washers, nuts
  • EN: bolts, washers, nuts, clearance holes, threaded holes, screws, pins, dowels, cotter pins
  • DIN: bolts, washers, nuts, counterbores, clearance holes, threaded holes, screws, rivets, retaining rings, pins, prismatic keys, wedges, bearings, dowels, cotter pins, stud bolts, grease fittings
  • PN (Polish Norms): same range as DIN
  • GOST (Russian Standards): same range as DIN
  • General: connection symbols

Steel Profiles Library

Provides symbols of the most commonly used structural profiles such as angles, channels, tees, and others.

Categories of symbols include:

  • ASTM: e.g., equal angle, I-beam
  • DIN: steel profiles – flat bars, L-angles, U-channels, T-beams, Z-profiles, I-beams, hollow sections; also steel rods, wire rods, steel pipes
  • EN: steel profiles – flat bars, L-angles, T-beams, hollow sections; steel rods, wire rods, pipes
  • PN: same range as DIN
  • GOST: flat bars, L-angles, U-channels, I-beams, hollow sections, steel rods

Weld, Surface Texture, and Other Markings Library

Contains symbols used in mechanical drawings to denote welds, surface roughness, and other annotations.

Categories of symbols include:

  • Joint markings: left/right, with or without descriptions
  • Weld views: e.g., V-welds, fillet welds
  • Surface texture: general roughness, with/without material removal

Hydraulics and Pneumatics Library

Allows users to create detailed hydraulic and pneumatic system diagrams.

Categories of symbols include:

  • Hydraulics:
    • Basic symbols, connections, control methods
    • Energy conversion/storage
    • General energy control/regulation
    • Check valves, directional valves
    • Pressure and flow control valves
    • Media preparation elements
    • Measurement instruments and sensors
  • Pneumatics:
    • Basic symbols, connections, hoses and fittings
    • Mechanisms and control methods
    • Energy conversion and storage
    • Directional valves, check valves
    • Pressure and flow regulators
    • Heat exchangers, instruments, sensors
  • Additional categories:
    • Complex control mechanism symbols (e.g., overload protection)
    • Directional indicators for motion, flow, actuator position
    • Fluidic logic – binary logic elements (form A and B)
    • Basic block symbols: e.g., 3-way and 4-way valves

Block and Functional Diagrams Library

Provides symbols used in block diagrams across various technical and business domains.

Categories of symbols include:

  • Algorithms: basic symbols, loops, data processing, I/O devices, data/memory, relationship indicators
  • Functional diagrams: operations, start steps, commands, signal components (e.g., ON, OFF, timers)
  • Computer networks: scanners, sockets, terminals, servers (rack-mounted and standalone), other devices (fax, mobile phone)
  • BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation): events, gateways, tasks, task markers, data
  • People
  • Other: arrows, crossings
  • Entity relationships: e.g., one-to-many, zero-to-one
  • Examples: network diagram, quadratic equation algorithm, functional diagram, block diagram (electrical, technological), BPMN diagram

General Commands in CP-Symbols Mechanical

  • Lines (wires/pipes): Draw single-line connections and schematic lines
  • Frames and Title Blocks: Insert standard drawing frames and tables
  • Attributes and Descriptions: Edit attribute values of one or multiple symbols
  • Material Lists: Generate bills of materials based on drawing contents
